Permissions, and why the extension needs them
When you add WATS Wallet, Chrome warns that it can read and change all your data on all websites. Wallet extensions that connect to dApps, MetaMask included, show the same warning, because a website can only find a wallet that adds its provider to the page. Here is what each permission in the extension's manifest is used for. The manifest and the rest of the extension's code are public on GitHub.
- Access to all websites
- Adds the wallet's provider to each page as it loads, so dApps can find WATS Wallet: EIP-1193 and EIP-6963 for EVM networks, TON Connect for TON. A site can read your address only after you approve its connection request.
- Tabs
- Opens the setup tab, or brings it forward if it is already open, and tells connected sites in your open tabs when you switch account or network.
- Storage
- Keeps your wallet, encrypted with your password, and your settings on your device.
- Alarms
- Drives the auto-lock timer, so the wallet locks itself after the time you set.
- Side panel
- Shows the wallet in Chrome's side panel. You can switch to a popup in Settings.
- Connected sites
- Settings, then Dapp permissions, lists every connected site and what it can access. You can revoke each site separately.
How it works
Install from the Chrome Web Store
Add the WATS Wallet extension to Chrome, Edge, Brave or any Chromium browser, then pin it to your toolbar. Chrome will warn that the extension can read and change data on all websites: that site access is how dApps detect the wallet, and no site connects without your approval.
Connect to a dApp
Open any Web3 dApp and choose WATS Wallet — a single click links your wallet, with no copy-pasting addresses.
Sign from the toolbar
Review and approve each transaction in-browser. Your keys stay on your device because WATS is non-custodial.

Is the WATS Wallet Chrome extension open source?
Yes. The extension client's source code is public on GitHub under the MIT license, with tagged releases since v1.7.0 (2 September 2026), so anyone can read how keys are generated, encrypted and stored on the device. The hosted backend, the ERC-4337 bundler proxy and the ATS paymaster service are not part of the repository.
Does the WATS Chrome extension support Solana?
Yes. The WATS Chrome extension supports Solana as well as 10 EVM networks and TON, the same networks as the mobile app. Solana transactions pay their own network fee in SOL.
Does the WATS extension work on Firefox or Safari?
No. The extension installs from the Chrome Web Store on Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Edge and Brave. On an iPhone or Android phone, use the WATS mobile app instead.

Yes. You can import a recovery phrase or an EVM private key. Your keys are encrypted and stored on your device, and WATS never holds a key.

Connecting is never automatic: a site can read your address only after you approve its connection request, every signature and transaction needs your confirmation in the wallet, and you can revoke any site under Settings, Dapp permissions.
