The WATS Wallet Chrome extension client is now open source under the MIT license. The repository was created on 2 September 2026, together with its first public release, v1.7.0.
What is in the repository
- The extension client itself: a Manifest V3 extension built with Vue 3 and Vite.
- Its documentation, including a specification and a security policy.
- Release notes for each published version.
Anyone can read the code, build it from source and load it unpacked in Chrome (Chrome 115 or newer, Node.js 20.19+ or 22+).
What is not in the repository
The hosted backend, the ERC-4337 bundler proxy and the ATS paymaster service are not part of the repository. The backend proxies services such as token metadata and prices so that third-party API keys stay on the server, because extension code is public by nature and cannot hold a secret.
Your keys stay on your device
Keys are generated, encrypted and stored on your device and never leave it. WATS never holds your keys. You can read the key generation, encryption, storage and unlock code in the repository. See also the security page and the Chrome extension page.
Reporting a vulnerability
Please do not open a public issue. Use GitHub private vulnerability reporting: open the Security tab of the repository and choose Report a vulnerability. This creates a private advisory visible only to the maintainers. The security policy asks for the affected version, browser, steps to reproduce and what an attacker gains, and states an initial response within 7 days.
