Here is how to find your TXID on Tonviewer, file the recovery request and avoid fake "recovery" support.","Forgot the memo or comment on a GRAM or USDT-on-TON exchange deposit? Why it usually isn't lost, how to file a recovery request, and how to avoid it.","

Your GRAM (formerly Toncoin) or USDT is almost certainly not lost on-chain: it reached the exchange's shared deposit address, but without the memo (called the comment on TON) the exchange cannot tell which account it belongs to. No wallet, block explorer or outside "recovery service" can move it now, because only the exchange can credit it or send it back. As of October 2026, the fix is to copy the transaction hash (TXID) from Tonviewer and file the exchange's official missing or wrong memo request, expecting a review period, a possible fee and no guaranteed outcome.

Is my deposit lost if I forgot the memo or comment?

Usually no: a deposit without its memo is unattributed, not destroyed. Many exchanges use one pooled (shared) deposit address for all customers on chains such as TON, XRP Ledger, Stellar and Cosmos, and the memo, comment or tag is the only thing that tells them which customer to credit.

A memo-less transfer still confirms and arrives at the exchange's address, but no automatic booking picks it up, so the funds sit with the exchange. Per Ellipal's support documentation, a confirmed transaction cannot be reversed and only the exchange can credit the deposit; Keeper (formerly Tonkeeper) says the same for TON.

This differs from sending on the wrong network: the chain was correct and only the identifier is missing. That mismatch makes people second-guess the asset and skip the comment field. The change needed no swap or migration, so any message telling you to "migrate your GRAM" is a scam. Some exchanges return the funds to the sending address instead of crediting your account. That works when you sent from a self-custody wallet you control; if you sent from another exchange, the return goes to that exchange and you must open a ticket there too. If you typed a wrong memo rather than none, file the same request with both memos; if the wrong memo belongs to another customer, recovery can be harder, so ask the exchange and do it quickly.
